Responsibilities
- Lead BIOS-level bring-up and validation for new hardware platforms, including CPU, chipset, and DDR5/DDR6 memory subsystem debugging.
- Develop and execute validation plans for BIOS features, power management, security features, and boot flows.
- Support manufacturing and sustaining engineering through BIOS customization, factory programming, and field issue resolution.
- Analyze and customize BIOS/UEFI firmware for AMD EPYC/Ryzen, Intel Core/Xeon, and ARM-based platforms.
- Troubleshoot POST failures, memory training errors, PCIe enumeration problems, and thermal or power-sequencing anomalies.
- Configure and validate DDR5 memory subsystems, including SPD/XMP programming, memory training, RAS features, and JEDEC compliance.
- Use JTAG/ITP debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and serial consoles for hardware and firmware debugging.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, design, applications, and silicon vendor engineers on platform bring-up and validation.
- Author issue logs, validation reports, debug guides, and technical documentation, and participate in design reviews and bring-up planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on BIOS/UEFI firmware development or validation experience.
- Experience with at least two of AMD, Intel, or ARM CPU architectures and their associated firmware technologies.
- Strong understanding of DDR5 memory architecture, training algorithms, SPD/MR registers, and RAS features.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting with Python and Bash for firmware development and automation.
- Experience with UEFI/EDK2, SMM, DXE, PEI driver development, and ACPI/ASL.
- Familiarity with JTAG debuggers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and serial console interfaces.
- Understanding of PCIe, USB, I2C/SMBus, SPI, LPC, UART, and GPIO interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, datasheets, and silicon vendor documentation.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AMD PSP, Intel ME/CSME, ARM TrustZone, OpenBMC, IPMI/Redfish, server RAS, PCIe Gen 5, CXL, JEDEC DDR5 compliance, power-management frameworks, silicon bring-up, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile engineering workflows.
