Responsibilities
- Own vertical slices of the rendering platform and deliver backend projects and distributed systems end to end.
- Define, design, and own internal and external API contracts.
- Lead technical design decisions focused on high availability, performance, and code quality.
- Improve infrastructure and deliver customer-facing features in small, fast increments.
- Document services and communicate platform capabilities across Smartly.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, remove project roadblocks, and respond to production challenges.
- Partner with Product and Infrastructure stakeholders to meet global customer demand.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and guidance on complex backend architecture.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience building robust, complex, and distributed web applications.
- Deep backend development expertise, especially with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
- DevOps experience with Kubernetes and messaging queues is an asset.
- Strong analytical, communication, autonomous problem-solving, and customer-focused delivery skills.
- Professional English communication skills.
- Ability to work hybrid from the Helsinki office at least 3 days per week.
