Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Drive the technical roadmap and architecture for database reliability, high availability, replication, partitioning, storage, and connection management.
- Build automation-first database platforms with Kubernetes operators, infrastructure as code, GitOps workflows, and production tooling in Go or Python.
- Automate provisioning, failover, backups, schema migrations, and database lifecycle management.
- Define service level objectives, monitor database health and performance, validate backup and recovery processes, and lead critical production incidents.
- Perform capacity planning, storage optimization, workload consolidation, performance tuning, and cost optimization across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Partner with application engineering teams on schema reviews, migration strategies, query optimization, connection management, and zero-downtime deployments.
- Use AI-assisted observability, anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, documentation, predictive insights, and code evaluation to improve database operations while maintaining reliability and security.
- Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, influence technical direction, support hiring, and improve database reliability engineering maturity.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in Database Reliability Engineering, Database Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering with a strong database focus.
- Technical leadership experience delivering complex database infrastructure projects at scale.
- Deep expertise in at least one major relational database, preferably PostgreSQL, plus operational experience with MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, ScyllaDB, Aerospike, Aurora, Cloud SQL, or other managed cloud database services.
- Strong experience building and operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes using StatefulSets, Persistent Volumes, database operators, Terraform, Pulumi, FluxCD, ArgoCD, GKE, and EKS.
- Hands-on Go or Python software development experience for automation, platform tooling, Kubernetes controllers, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Experience improving reliability through observability, monitoring, service level objectives, capacity planning, performance optimization, and self-service engineering solutions.
- Practical experience using AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and MCP, with the judgment to validate AI-generated outputs.
- Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, documentation, architectural collaboration, and continuous-improvement skills in highly available production environments.
Benefits
- US base salary range is 168,000.00 USD - 210,000.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.
- The position is full-time and the stated compensation range applies across US locations, with individual pay determined by work location and other factors.
- A gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency may be required as a condition of employment, with guidance provided through the process.
