Base Salary
$180k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own complex internationalization projects end to end, including requirements clarification, task breakdown, and delivery guidance.
- Establish the technical roadmap for internationalization engineering and make build-or-buy recommendations for AI-powered translation orchestration and governance.
- Build AI/LLM-powered translation tooling, evaluate models, design quality guardrails, and integrate solutions into production localization pipelines.
- Build and operate translation pipelines and i18n tooling integrated with translation management systems and CI/CD.
- Standardize frontend and backend internationalization frameworks for date/time, currency, pluralization, and message formatting.
- Develop static analysis, pseudo-locale testing, RTL and bidirectional language support, and transliteration tooling.
- Partner with Localization, Product, Design, Legal, Marketing, and engineering teams to establish shared internationalization standards.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, interviews, and onboarding.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience, including hands-on internationalization/localization engineering and delivery leadership for complex features.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills, including React or React Native, plus a backend language such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python, or a comparable ecosystem.
- Production experience applying AI and large language models, including judgment about automation versus human review.
- Working knowledge of Unicode, ICU/CLDR, locale-aware formatting, and resource file formats.
- Experience building or scaling localization systems and translation pipelines.
- Clear cross-functional communication and ability to teach teams the importance of internationalization.
- Preferred experience with production RTL/bidirectional support, localizability audits, pseudo-locale validation, translation management systems such as Lokalise, Phrase, Smartling, or Transifex, and XLIFF.
- Fintech, remittance, or regulated-industry experience is a plus.
