Responsibilities
- Automate operational tasks across all environments.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL database infrastructure components.
- Respond to production incidents and platform emergencies.
- Build observability systems to monitor database health.
- Develop and ship database performance solutions.
- Create self-service tools and automation for engineering teams.
- Document decisions, learnings, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure operational continuity.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience running PostgreSQL in high-growth production environments.
- Expertise with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Solid understanding of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and data structure design.
- Experience in large-scale, distributed SaaS production environments.
- Strong written communication skills and commitment to documentation.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and contributing solutions.
- Capability to mentor junior team members.
- Backend engineering experience with languages like Ruby or Go.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and managing database infrastructure.
