Base Salary

$175k - $220k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate reliable billing services covering usage metering, pricing, invoicing, and payment integrations.
  • Develop real-time and batch processing pipelines for usage tracking and cost calculation.
  • Build APIs and services that provide customers with transparent usage and spending insights.
  • Implement flexible pricing and billing capabilities for evolving cloud offerings and new product launches.
  • Ensure billing data and workflows are accurate, reliable, auditable, and protected by validation and reconciliation safeguards.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, debugging, error handling, and billing discrepancy detection.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, Customer Success, Support, and engineering teams on requirements and revenue workflows.
  • Contribute to scalable billing platform architecture and long-term technical decisions.
  • Lead design discussions, review code, mentor engineers, improve hiring practices, and strengthen the engineering culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, including backend development.
  • Experience with billing, payments, metering, financial systems, or similarly complex high-integrity data systems.
  • Backend development experience with languages such as Go, Java, Rust, or C++.
  • Experience designing and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems with strong data consistency guarantees.
  • Familiarity with real-time and batch data processing, event-driven architectures, and financial data modeling.
  • Experience building monitoring, alerting, debugging, observability, reconciliation, and error-handling capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product, Finance, and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong attention to data accuracy, edge cases, correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding engineers and contributing to engineering excellence.
  • Ability to explain complex systems and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
