Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical architecture for the S/4HANA landscape and maintain clean-core, upgrade-ready standards.
- Define SAP extensibility strategy and governance using SAP BTP and Databricks-native applications.
- Drive integration of SAP with Databricks’ enterprise AI transformation and agentic services.
- Architect secure, resilient integrations across SAP and non-SAP systems using SAP Integration Suite, APIs, event-driven patterns, OData v4, and change-data feeds.
- Partner with data engineering to ingest, model, govern, and trace SAP data in the Databricks Lakehouse.
- Establish CI/CD, automated testing, transport, and deployment standards for BTP artifacts and lead code and design reviews.
- Mentor developers and architects, lead technical steering, and collaborate with functional, product, and partner engineering teams.
- Own performance, scalability, security, resilience, cost, technical risks, status, and roadmaps across the landscape.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in SAP technical roles and 3+ years as a technical lead or architect.
- Proven delivery of at least one complete S/4HANA greenfield program or conversion, plus BTP-based extension delivery.
- Deep hands-on expertise in clean-core architecture, custom-code remediation, extensibility models, released APIs, and extension-point governance.
- Advanced experience with SAP BTP, ABAP Cloud, the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model, CDS, CAP, and Fiori/SAPUI5.
- Hands-on experience or strong technical command of agentic automation, LLM orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation.
- Advanced experience with SAP Integration Suite, API management, event-driven architecture, and REST/OData integrations.
- Understanding of modern data platforms, SAP data extraction and modeling, data pipelines, and semantic layers.
- Working knowledge of SAP authorizations, segregation of duties, SOX, and audit requirements.
- Ability to translate business requirements into architecture, explain tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders, mentor engineers, and balance delivery speed with maintainability.
- Preferred: experience building Databricks or other modern data-platform applications alongside SAP.
- Preferred: perspective on build-versus-adopt decisions across SAP BTP, AI Core, Joule, and Databricks-native approaches.
- Preferred: knowledge of SAP integration surfaces including OData, REST APIs, CDS views, and Datasphere.
- Preferred: experience with Agile delivery, system integrators, managed service partners, vendor accountability, and SLAs.
- Preferred: SAP certification in SAP BTP, S/4HANA, or a related technology area, and experience scaling ERP in a high-growth technology company.
