Responsibilities
- Own and operate Databricks and supporting Azure data platform components across development, test, and production.
- Build and maintain CI/CD and environment standardization using Azure DevOps and infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform.
- Implement observability through logging, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks.
- Manage identity and access controls, secrets management, configuration standards, platform releases, and upgrades.
- Enable MLOps capabilities, including MLflow standards, deployment patterns, and automation.
- Implement governance, security, compliance, FinOps, cost optimization, and platform guardrails.
- Monitor platform health, resolve incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and improve operational reliability.
- Define and report operational KPIs such as availability, performance, deployment frequency, and MTTR.
- Provide self-service tooling, reusable templates, onboarding, training, and operational support to Data Product teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in platform engineering roles.
- Hands-on administration and operations experience with Databricks and Azure data platform services.
- Understanding of environment provisioning, secrets management, identity and access, and networking patterns.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for automation and troubleshooting, along with experience using APIs, scripting, modular coding, and Git.
- Experience implementing CI/CD in Azure DevOps, managing releases, and improving deployment safety through testing, approvals, and branching and versioning practices.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting and using operational metrics to improve reliability.
- Familiarity with incident management and root-cause analysis.
- Terraform infrastructure-as-code experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with MLflow and model lifecycle operations is a nice-to-have qualification.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions and best practices effectively across teams.
