Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise-standard local developer environments for Windows-based and applicable MacOS workstations.
- Administer Visual Studio, Docker Desktop, the .NET SDK/Runtime, and JDK platforms.
- Create standardized workstation baselines, tooling configurations, golden images, and automated provisioning processes.
- Develop reusable local development templates, starter kits, and environment blueprints for application teams.
- Define and enforce standards for IDE configuration, code quality tooling, SDK versions, package management, and local workflows.
- Integrate local development workflows with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and the Travelers Engineering Portal pipeline ecosystem.
- Manage tool and framework versions, upgrades, compatibility testing, patching, software asset management, and license governance.
- Embed DevSecOps controls and provide L3 troubleshooting across IDEs, SDKs, containers, build tools, and runtime environments.
Requirements
- Hands-on engineering experience independently implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing developer tooling and CI/CD platforms.
- Expertise administering Visual Studio, Docker Desktop, .NET SDK/Runtime, and JDK platforms.
- Experience with local developer environments, automated workstation provisioning, CI/CD integrations, and DevSecOps controls.
- Ability to establish development standards, manage tool lifecycles, and support multiple technology stacks.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and technical lead for local development environments and DevOps pipelines.
