Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for embedded firmware development and approve firmware requirements, architecture, design specifications, coding guidelines, and development strategies.
  • Lead development of RTOS-based embedded firmware, communication stacks, device drivers, bootloaders, diagnostics, motor control functions, and cybersecurity features.
  • Coordinate global cross-functional teams spanning firmware, systems, hardware, verification and validation, cybersecurity, quality, manufacturing, and product management.
  • Plan firmware activities, prioritize backlogs, manage technical debt, lead technical reviews, and mentor firmware engineers and technical leads.
  • Assess and mitigate technical risks, lead defect and field-issue resolution, and maintain firmware risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Drive secure development, vulnerability remediation, reliability engineering, DFMEA, root cause analysis, static analysis, code coverage, and software quality improvements.
  • Review firmware verification and validation strategies, test plans, qualification requirements, and product-level reliability, safety, performance, and cybersecurity validation.
  • Coordinate firmware release management, manufacturing deployment, production readiness, firmware upgrades, field deployment, sustaining releases, and component obsolescence management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, software engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of embedded firmware development experience, including at least 5 years in technical leadership roles.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience with Embedded C/C++, RTOS, embedded software architecture, ARM Cortex microcontrollers and microprocessors, device drivers, bootloaders, diagnostics, real-time systems, memory optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience developing firmware for motor management products, protection devices, control systems, or connected industrial products across the full lifecycle from concept through industrialization.
  • Expertise in motor control and protection functions, motor thermal models, TeSys island, digital load management, smart motor starters, industrial load control, motor feeders, and starter systems.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including Modbus TCP, CAN/CANopen, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET/Profibus, UART, SPI, I²C, and TCP/IP networking.
  • Knowledge of firmware requirements engineering, cybersecurity by design, SSDLC, product development lifecycle, verification and validation, DFMEA, reliability engineering, debugging, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience with IEC 60947, MISRA C/C++, and related quality, cybersecurity, functional safety, and product compliance standards; IEC 61508, IEC 62443, UL, CSA, and CE experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Reliasoft, Jira, Jama, BDH, Coverity or similar static analysis tools, GitHub or similar source code management tools, and DevOps tools and concepts is preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD, industrialization processes, manufacturing support, and Agile/Scrum product development is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to make firmware architecture and technical decisions, manage risks, lead global cross-functional teams, and guide engineers through complex product development.
