Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical authority for product development and translate market and system requirements into product requirements.
- Lead embedded firmware development involving RTOS applications, communication stacks, device drivers, bootloaders, diagnostics, and cybersecurity features.
- Approve firmware, electronics, electrical design specifications, coding guidelines, architectures, and development strategies.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary global teams across Firmware, Systems, Hardware, Verification and Validation, Cybersecurity, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Management.
- Plan development activities, prioritize backlogs, manage technical debt, and assess technical feasibility, resources, risks, and delivery timelines.
- Drive technical risk assessment, DFMEA, fault tree analysis, root cause analysis, defect resolution, reliability improvements, and remediation planning.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, quality, reliability, regulatory, safety, and secure-coding requirements.
- Review and approve verification and validation strategies, test plans, qualification requirements, and product-level testing.
- Coordinate design release, manufacturing deployment, production readiness, factory acceptance, industrialization, firmware upgrades, and field deployment.
- Lead firmware lifecycle management, sustaining engineering, maintenance releases, and component obsolescence management.
- Coach firmware, electronics, and technical leads and promote engineering quality, modularity, maintainability, scalability, and reusability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in embedded and firmware development, including at least 5 years in technical leadership roles.
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience with embedded electronics design, C/C++, RTOS, Linux, embedded software architecture, ARM Cortex microcontrollers and microprocessors, device drivers, bootloaders, diagnostics, real-time systems, memory optimization, connectivity, MCU/MPU systems, PCB, and PCBA.
- Experience developing firmware, electrical, and electronics solutions for motor management products, protection devices, control systems, or connected industrial products.
- Proven ability to lead global cross-functional engineering teams and deliver embedded products through the complete lifecycle from concept to industrialization.
- Expertise in firmware architecture, embedded software design, technical decision-making, risk management, motor control and protection functions, industrial communication protocols, and product reliability.
- Experience with product firmware and electronics requirements engineering, cybersecurity by design, SSDLC, verification and validation, DFMEA, reliability engineering, root cause analysis, debugging, and industrialization support.
- Knowledge of IEC 60947, MISRA C/C++ guidelines, EMC/EMI standards, and relevant quality, compliance, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
- Preferred experience with IEC 61508, IEC 62443, UL, CSA, CE compliance, CI/CD, industrialization processes, Jira, Jama, BDH, DevOps tools, static code analysis, and source code management.
