Base Salary

$198k - $222k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize machine learning product experiences for Strava athletes worldwide.
  • Own ML projects end-to-end from model prototyping through production deployment, inference scaling, and optimization.
  • Design and develop models and methodologies for recommendation systems, activity prediction, and personalized insights.
  • Use large-scale fitness and geographic datasets to extract insights, inform product decisions, and optimize features.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional product teams to identify opportunities and deliver ML solutions.
  • Improve ML platform capabilities, model development practices, deployment processes, monitoring, retraining, and maintenance.
  • Advocate for innovative AI techniques and help establish the technical direction and operational standards for ML at Strava.

Requirements

  • Experience working on numerous machine learning problems and breaking them into incremental tasks.
  • Experience building, shipping, and supporting machine learning models in production at scale.
  • Experience with exploratory data analysis and model prototyping using Python or R and tools including scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and SageMaker.
  • Experience building data pipelines with large-scale data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, EMR, SQL, and Snowflake.
  • Experience with production ML model operational excellence, including automated retraining, performance monitoring, feature logging, and A/B testing.
  • Experience building backend production services on cloud environments such as AWS using Python, Ruby, Java, Scala, or Go.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach to driving business impact across teams.
  • Interest in staying current with machine learning and AI research and contributing to model development, deployment, and maintenance best practices.
