Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain software applications for training and simulation systems.
- Perform software testing, verification, debugging, and defect resolution.
- Support software patching, server updates, system maintenance, and operational reliability.
- Integrate software with hardware interfaces, networks, and external systems.
- Support software releases, acceptance activities, and customer-site deployments.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues affecting deployed operational systems.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and engineering artefacts.
- Support installation, troubleshooting, and operational acceptance at customer locations.
- Collaborate with systems, software, integration, and support teams.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and security requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Significant software engineering experience in a commercial, defence, or regulated engineering environment.
- Strong software development experience using C and/or C++.
- Experience with software verification, testing, debugging, and complex defect resolution.
- Experience maintaining and enhancing operational or deployed software systems.
- Experience with structured software release and deployment processes.
- Experience integrating software with hardware interfaces and networked systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Windows, SVN/TortoISE SVN or equivalent version-control tools.
- Experience with Active Directory administration, VMware, and Windows Server administration.
- Experience with defence, maritime, naval, training, simulation, or synthetic training systems.
- Experience working in secure or classified environments and supporting customer deployments.
- Ada development experience and experience maintaining legacy or mixed-language codebases are relevant qualifications.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC) and to work in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness to work in secure defence facilities, support deployed systems, and travel occasionally to customer sites.
