Responsibilities
- Define Adaptive’s ML strategy, including product applications, infrastructure needs, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Design and build production ML systems end to end, including data pipelines, model training, evaluation frameworks, and inference serving.
- Establish evaluation methodologies to measure model quality, catch regressions, and guide model changes with data.
- Define data acquisition and labeling strategies, feedback loops, and methods for continuous model improvement.
- Partner with product engineers to integrate ML into the product while writing production code in the existing codebase.
- Build and lead the ML team as the company’s ML scope expands.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building machine-learning systems in production, ideally including establishing an ML function at an early-stage startup or serving as a senior or lead ML engineer.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-quality coding experience in Python, Java, or TypeScript within large codebases.
- Experience with cloud ML infrastructure such as AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Modal, or Baseten.
- Experience with common ML and data-processing frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Spark.
- Ability to work across infrastructure, backend services, and data systems.
- Track record of mentoring machine-learning engineers and other engineers with observable improvements in their performance.
- High autonomy and ability to define and drive the path forward.
