Senior Software Engineer, Labor Planning & Forecasting

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality backend features for Legion’s labor planning and forecasting platform.
  • Design, build, support, and optimize scalable end-to-end applications and APIs.
  • Make data-driven technical decisions and solve complex technical and performance problems.
  • Write unit tests, test features with QA engineers, and ensure production readiness.
  • Debug and resolve incoming defects while meeting bug-resolution goals and SLAs.
  • Collaborate with the CTO, architects, stakeholders, product engineering teams, and QA on feature design and requirements.
  • Contribute to architecture, technical documentation, quarterly planning, and the long-term team charter.
  • Mentor team members and conduct design reviews, code reviews, and quality-focused feedback.
  • Demonstrate the Legion product end to end and help engineering teams deliver features rapidly and reliably.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7–8 years of experience with backend technologies including Java, Spring Boot, and MySQL.
  • 7–8 years of experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications and designing and building APIs.
  • At least 5 years delivering software in a cloud-based environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Professional software development experience with proficiency in Java or C++ and object-oriented design.
  • Experience with application architecture, design patterns, distributed or scalable systems, and high-volume transaction applications.
  • Experience leading projects from inception through production and preferably serving as a technical lead across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Strong software architecture, technical writing, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred qualifications include AWS product and service proficiency, experience with frontend technologies, and experience with code-quality systems such as Coverity or SonarQube.
