$202k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of high-performance Java platform components.
- Enable virtual threads and develop the TaskGraph framework for Java developers.
- Support adoption of the latest Java LTS versions and enhance developer tools.
- Optimize JVM, CPU, memory, system performance, reliability, and operational support costs.
- Design scalable and resilient platform solutions for Uber’s backend services.
- Collaborate with platform teams and promote knowledge exchange and continuous technical improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of full-time engineering experience.
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis with a systematic problem-solving approach.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems or stream processing.
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, Golang, C#, or C++.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience building and managing large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred: high proficiency in Java and experience with JVM tuning, performance benchmarking, or continuous profiling.
- Preferred: familiarity with using AI or GenAI technologies to automate routine development tasks.
- Demonstrated ownership and a proactive bias toward action.

- Base salary for listed New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Sunnyvale roles is USD $202,000–$224,000 per year.
