Responsibilities
- Perform software development and engineering work for IATH.
- Design and implement faculty-driven digital humanities research projects using established and emerging technologies, with emphasis on AI and machine learning.
- Work with researchers to understand their data and requirements for data analysis.
- Engage regularly with faculty and students and communicate information and questions clearly.
- Demonstrate and document technical work for technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Assess and recommend technical solutions and independently implement solutions within multidisciplinary teams.
- Support experimentation with emerging technologies through collaboration with the Library’s AI Literacy and Action Lab.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required; a master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in PHP, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and TEI.
- Experience with Drupal, Mukurtu, Omeka, SQL databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL, JSON, CSV, Git, and Subversion.
- Demonstrated expertise in AI systems and machine learning algorithms, including critical evaluation, current and emerging best practices, and ethical AI use.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Preferred qualifications include digital humanities experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching and training, consultation, independent task management, and responsible AI practices.
- Preferred technical experience includes Ollama or similar local LLM tools, cloud-based AI tools, Claude Code, Ruby, Python, Java, IIIF, Node.js, React, Jekyll, Eleventy, Ruby on Rails, Docker, Jupyter, Dublin Core, and VRA Core.
