Base Salary
$130k - $196k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and operate spacecraft commanding software for command generation, validation, sequencing, and constraint checking.
- Collaborate with mission operations, GN&C, flight software, instrument, ground systems, and external partner teams to translate operational needs into software.
- Develop automated test suites and validation frameworks for commanding, telemetry processing, and data dissemination, including regression, simulation/flatsat, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Define and document external interfaces, APIs, data formats, ICDs, schemas, and protocol definitions for instrument teams and other stakeholders.
- Automate tooling for commanding, telemetry visualization, anomaly investigation, and data pipelines.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic development tools while verifying their output in mission-critical contexts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience, ideally involving mission operations, ground systems, command and control, or other safety- or mission-critical software.
- Strong software fundamentals and hands-on proficiency with Python or a comparable language.
- Experience designing and writing automated unit, integration, or regression test suites for complex or safety-critical systems.
- Experience defining or working with external-facing interfaces or APIs shared across teams or organizations.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, operators, external partners, and stakeholders with varied technical backgrounds.
- Experience using agentic development tools, AI coding agents, or AI coding assistants in a professional software engineering workflow.
- Availability for shift work and on-call support during critical mission phases, with schedule flexibility and occasional travel of less than 10%.
