Base Salary

$98k - $164k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop cybersecurity technologies for OT, embedded systems, and industrial control environments as a core contributor on R&D programs.
  • Identify external funding opportunities and provide technical input and domain expertise for research proposals.
  • Collaborate with universities, national laboratories, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, internal stakeholders, and product teams.
  • Define technical requirements and system-level security considerations for complex embedded and industrial control environments.
  • Advance technologies from laboratory demonstrations through fieldable prototypes and transition research into product platforms.
  • Contribute to technical papers, patent filings, open-source engagement, technical reviews, program reviews, and sponsor meetings.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 1–3 years of industry experience, or a bachelor's or master's degree in those fields with 3–5 years of industry experience.
  • At least 3–5 years of professional experience in embedded systems, firmware, or edge software development.
  • Current embedded programming capability in C, C++, and Python.
  • At least 3 years of experience with cryptographic standards such as TLS and X.509 and hardware-based security including HSM, TPM, ARM TrustZone, and secure boot.
  • At least 3 years of experience with embedded software development, computer architecture, Linux OS, network protocols, Linux security, and driver development.
  • Familiarity with OT network design, Purdue Model, segmentation, VLANs, firewalls, zero-trust architectures, and OT security standards is desired.
  • Exposure to STRIDE, ATT&CK for ICS, IEC 62443, NERC CIP, NIST 800-82, SBOM, secure firmware updates, ICS/SCADA architectures, industrial protocols, real-time operating systems, and embedded processors is desired.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and willing to work from the Niskayuna, New York office.
