Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize 5G uplink receiver-chain functions including channel estimation, interpolation, MMSE equalization, MIMO detection, LLR computation, and LDPC decoding.
- Implement PRACH detection, timing estimation, massive-MIMO beamforming, and O-RAN 7.2x C-plane and U-plane processing.
- Implement real-time L1 functions in C on Linux and accelerate compute-intensive kernels with CUDA, DSP, or SIMD.
- Build and optimize an eCPRI datapath with DPDK, poll-mode I/O, rte_flow, dedicated queues, zero-copy buffers, and hardware timestamps.
- Optimize the full processing chain for latency, memory usage, cache behavior, and compute load within a 0.5 ms slot budget.
- Validate algorithms with link-level simulations, 3GPP channel models, real IQ captures, and O-RAN radio units.
- Measure BLER, throughput, latency, and CPU, GPU, or DSP load, including comparisons between classical and AI-assisted algorithms.
- Build regression tests and CI checks for performance and accuracy degradation.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, hardware selection, accelerator integration, code reviews, design documentation, and open-source projects.
- Work with radio unit, RAN, core network, and operations teams while progressively owning technical topics through DU test-bench validation.
Requirements
- Engineering degree, Master of Science, or PhD in telecommunications, applied mathematics, embedded systems, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong foundations in linear algebra, probability, and digital signal processing.
- Understanding of OFDM, MIMO, Fourier transforms, channel estimation, detection, or channel coding.
- C programming on Linux with interest in memory layout, multithreading, cache behavior, and performance.
- Python experience with NumPy and SciPy for simulation, testing, and data analysis.
- Interest in at least one of 5G/LTE physical layer, O-RAN fronthaul, real-time embedded software, GPU programming, DSP/SIMD optimization, or AI for signal processing.
- Ability to translate mathematical concepts into code, define relevant metrics, and validate results experimentally.
- Good written English; French is a plus.
- Experience with CUDA, cuBLAS, cuFFT, AVX2, AVX-512, Arm NEON/SVE, or fixed-point arithmetic is valuable but not required in all areas.
