Responsibilities

  • Lead migration and modernization of legacy applications and infrastructure to AWS.
  • Design, deploy, secure, and operate AWS environments for development, test, staging, and production workloads.
  • Build reusable Infrastructure as Code modules, templates, guardrails, and deployment patterns.
  • Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, monitoring, auditing, patching, and deprovisioning.
  • Design and improve CI/CD pipelines covering builds, tests, security scanning, artifact management, deployments, validation, promotions, and rollbacks.
  • Support Docker and Kubernetes containerized workloads, including Amazon EKS, Amazon ECS, Helm, and GitOps practices.
  • Establish identity, secrets, encryption, logging, auditing, vulnerability management, change control, and least-privilege guardrails.
  • Support FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST-based controls, compliance evidence collection, remediation tracking, and continuous compliance.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, health checks, and incident response procedures.
  • Improve reliability through autoscaling, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, fault isolation, resilience engineering, and SLO/SLA support.
  • Apply FinOps practices including tagging, cost allocation, rightsizing, scheduling, storage optimization, savings planning, anomaly detection, and cost dashboards.
  • Use approved Generative AI tools and automation agents to improve documentation, pipelines, runbooks, testing, and incident response.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and document technical designs, standards, procedures, and customer recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, DevOps engineering, platform engineering, systems administration, infrastructure automation, enterprise architecture, or related technical roles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, containerization, and infrastructure operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, securing, and operating production workloads in AWS.
  • Experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, configuration management, automation, CI/CD pipelines, Linux administration, scripting, containers, cloud security, networking, IAM, logging, monitoring, and governance.
  • Experience operating in regulated, compliance-driven, or security-sensitive environments and working with FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST-based controls, or comparable frameworks.
  • Experience applying FinOps practices and troubleshooting complex infrastructure, pipeline, networking, systems, and application deployment issues.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across architecture, cybersecurity, development, infrastructure, operations, and customer teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting designs and presenting recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience using approved Generative AI tools or automation agents for engineering or operational workflows.
  • Must meet one certification requirement: hold an active AWS Professional-level certification at hire, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or obtain one within six months of hire.
  • Preferred qualifications include an AWS Specialty certification, HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification, GitLab Runner administration, GitOps, observability, disaster recovery, hybrid-cloud, service mesh, WAF, advanced Kubernetes, legacy modernization, and public-sector cloud experience.
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
