Base Salary

$120k - $160k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for forensic-tool portions of the codebase and provide senior-level design guidance.
  • Lead a team of developers in implementing new features, resolving software issues, and maintaining forensic-tool capabilities.
  • Lead the design, development, analysis, maintenance, enhancement, bug-fixing, and security improvement of forensic software.
  • Deliver incremental forensic-tool builds using the organization’s delivery processes and approved requirements.
  • Develop mechanisms for sharing results across applications through common databases, schemas, and object storage.
  • Develop interfaces for discovering relationships across collections of data stored in multiple databases.
  • Establish and maintain APIs that preserve backward compatibility and support integration of new functional modules.
  • Assess and ensure performance and reliability across software modules, components, analytical processes, and database processes.
  • Integrate new data types and analytic tools for seized media.
  • Deploy and maintain software and hardware in customer environments and development and operational environments.
  • Ensure forensic-tool deployments remain consistent with applicable policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary projects spanning software development, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
  • Plan the forensic toolkit’s strategic direction and align development with organizational mission and goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field.
  • Software development experience specializing in digital forensics and forensic-tool development.
  • Expert knowledge of forensic analysis techniques, file systems, data recovery, and evidence-handling best practices.
  • Familiarity with forensic standards and protocols and the ability to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for digital evidence.
  • Expertise in .NET programming languages and thin-client front-end technologies.
  • Extensive experience delivering forensic software in commercial cloud environments and supporting distributed processing.
  • Experience designing and architecting complex forensic software solutions and processing and analyzing petabytes of digital evidence.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects across software development, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical issues to nontechnical audiences, including law enforcement officers, analysts, and government officials.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI.
  • Relevant certifications in technical architecture, software development, or forensics are preferred.
