Base Salary
$254k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and build a Legal AI infrastructure platform of agents and automated workflows for high-volume legal work.
- Own the end-to-end institutional client agreement automation system for markup ingestion, playbook evaluation, first-pass redlining, human review, and outcome tracking.
- Consolidate ad-hoc bots and agents into a cohesive platform with naming conventions, personas, observability, and deployment standards.
- Serve as a technical thought partner to the VP and Legal leadership by translating legal workflows into engineered systems and engineering constraints into accessible guidance.
- Define the make-versus-buy strategy and evaluate or retire third-party legal technology in favor of purpose-built internal solutions where appropriate.
- Develop the pilot and playbook for forward-deployed engineering in non-technical organizations.
Requirements
- 12+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping production systems at scale.
- Experience bringing LLM-based applications to production, including evaluation frameworks, grounding, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Experience designing and operating multi-agent orchestration systems with human escalation.
- Ability to learn complex legal workflows and translate them into engineered systems while communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
- Platform mindset focused on primitives, reusability, standards, and maintainability.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals covering document processing, structured evaluation, routing logic, and audit trails.
- Ability to set and achieve ambitious goals in ambiguous, greenfield environments.
- Responsible use of generative AI tools and copilots, including LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean, with human-in-the-loop practices.
