Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise solution and integration architecture across EHR, ERP, clinical, research, facility, medical-device, imaging, and operational technology environments.
  • Translate institutional strategy into architectural roadmaps, actionable designs, architecture principles, integration patterns, and technology standards.
  • Develop long-term roadmaps for clinical technology integration, device interoperability, intelligent hospital operations, and platform strategy.
  • Lead requirements development, solution reviews, architecture governance, technology cataloging, and project-level architectural escalation.
  • Provide architectural oversight for major IT initiatives, transformation programs, healthcare facility activations, and hospital build initiatives.
  • Oversee integration across patient monitoring systems, imaging platforms, laboratory systems, biomedical equipment, cloud systems, on-premises systems, and hybrid environments.
  • Collaborate with clinical, research, biomedical, operational, administrative, facilities, construction, cybersecurity, and infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, vendor viability, technology requests, and opportunities to use clinical data for care delivery and analytics.
  • Mentor junior architects and technical staff and communicate architectural decisions and roadmaps to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, industry forums, merger and acquisition diligence, and IT capital planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of experience developing and overseeing solution architecture, enterprise systems design, or IT strategy.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and leading IT transformation initiatives in complex environments.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience includes at least ten years in enterprise architecture or solution design and work supporting new healthcare facilities, smart hospitals, or digital hospitals.
  • Preferred experience includes integrating medical devices, biomedical equipment, imaging systems, and clinical technologies in healthcare environments.
  • Preferred familiarity with HL7, FHIR, DICOM, Epic, ERP platforms, Microsoft Azure, and healthcare interoperability technologies.
  • Preferred certifications include TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, SAFe Architect, or PMP.

Benefits

  • Regular staff position expected to continue, with a 40-hour weekly schedule in Austin, Texas.
  • Salary is $189,279+ depending on qualifications.
  • Retirement plan eligibility through the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, subject to applicable hours and duration requirements.
  • Standard office environment; the role may involve exposure to healthcare-environment hazards, including communicable diseases, radiation, hazardous medications, and patients requiring specialized care.
  • A criminal history background check is required for finalists.
