Base Salary
$190k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure data stores.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, application, and product teams to optimize storage for performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and product scale.
- Define and advocate for best practices in data modeling, access patterns, monitoring, and incident response.
- Build automation and observability and perform proactive capacity planning.
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions and mentor junior engineers.
- Partner with engineering teams on complex initiatives and develop simple solutions to complex problems.
- Shape system design, development methodologies, and implementation technologies.
Requirements
- BA/BS in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on large-scale, distributed data systems.
- Expertise designing and operating scalable data storage solutions, ideally with MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, particularly Google Cloud or equivalent cloud providers.
- Deep understanding of data consistency, replication, partitioning, and high-availability strategies.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes.
- Software development experience in Ruby, Go, Python, or Java, preferably with Ruby on Rails and ORMs.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices including requirements gathering, design, coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
