Lead Drives Control Application Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Specify, design, code, validate, and maintain control application software for megawatt-scale power electronic drive systems.
- Ensure software designs meet performance, reliability, safety, and international standards requirements.
- Validate application software using Hardware-in-the-Loop rigs and laboratory test drives.
- Integrate control software into larger systems and verify end-to-end functionality.
- Write software interfacing with peripheral equipment and collaborate with hardware, systems, and commissioning engineers.
- Support customer-site equipment commissioning and validation several times per year.
- Develop engineering standards and design practices while complying with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or substantial equivalent industrial software engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical machines, electrical drives, and AC/DC, DC/AC, and DC-to-DC converter system topologies.
- Proven experience writing control application software for Variable Speed Drive systems, including current source and voltage source drives.
- Experience with machine control for induction, synchronous, and permanent magnet machines.
- Ability to translate high-level design requirements into efficient, robust software and produce clear technical documentation.
- Eligibility to obtain UK SC Security Check clearance.
- Unrestricted right to travel domestically and internationally.
- Preferred experience with PLC application software, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent modeling and simulation tools, and Hardware-in-the-Loop software testing and validation.
