Base Salary
$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build high-throughput pipelines that transform raw vehicle recordings into query-ready datasets and remain correct through retries, reprocessing, and backfills.
- Design and tune data layouts, versioning, and indexing on object storage for efficient reads at large scale.
- Define and evolve schemas and data contracts for heterogeneous sensor and telemetry data.
- Run and optimize large batch workloads on distributed compute, including throughput, cost, and failure behavior.
- Own metrics, alerting, on-call support, operational reliability, and testing for the systems built.
- Partner with data producers and consumers to resolve quality issues and safely roll out changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience building data infrastructure or distributed backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or Go, with strong data structures and software design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with a distributed processing framework such as Ray, Spark, or Flink.
- Hands-on experience with columnar, object-storage-backed data formats and table formats such as Parquet, Apache Arrow, Iceberg, or Delta.
- Experience with observability tooling for batch systems, including Prometheus and Grafana.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: experience tuning storage layouts, compaction, or indexing for read-path performance.
- Preferred: experience with robotics or sensor data, including ROS 2, MCAP, point clouds, or time-series telemetry.
- Preferred: experience running workloads on Kubernetes or OCI, AWS, or GCP.
