Base Salary

$98k - $116k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition, documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement of observability across critical customer journeys.
  • Design and govern SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, reliability metrics, dashboards, alerts, synthetic monitoring, telemetry standards, and observability architectures.
  • Partner with product owners, application engineering, SRE, operations, and business stakeholders to define reliability requirements and production-readiness standards.
  • Develop and maintain service health dashboards covering availability, latency, customer impact, dependency performance, and SLO compliance.
  • Analyze telemetry, incidents, problem records, alert history, and performance trends to identify observability gaps and improve detection accuracy.
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance, coaching, and standards interpretation on tracing, logging, metrics, synthetic monitoring, APM, RUM, and alert governance.
  • Maintain an authoritative inventory of observability assets, ownership assignments, review cadences, and compliance evidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in business and risk analysis, IT service management, production support, product or project management, or application development.
  • Expertise in observability engineering, site reliability engineering, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and customer journey monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with APM, RUM, synthetic monitoring, logging, tracing, and telemetry frameworks.
  • Proficiency with one or more of Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, Elastic, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience building and tuning operational dashboards and actionable alerts.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, cloud platforms, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to use incident analysis, root-cause analysis, and performance data to drive reliability improvements.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and technical leadership skills.
