Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex software applications using clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Lead code reviews and all aspects of technical delivery, ensuring code quality and sharing knowledge.
- Lead the technical direction of products and domains, owning delivery, application health, engineering standards, and technical debt remediation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, constructive feedback, and, where applicable, line management for junior software engineers.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform performance tuning, and improve system reliability.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and software-development processes.
- Manage tasks and priorities to support timely delivery and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Maintain governance and custodianship activities for technology assets.
- Apply security principles, secure coding practices, AI concepts, and tools to solve routine problems.
- Drive innovation and contribute to technical communities by exploring emerging technologies and practices.
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages.
- Deep system design expertise and broad technical understanding of the ecosystem supporting the relevant domain.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, prioritisation, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong understanding of security principles and secure coding practices.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience or capability in technical leadership, mentoring, and assessing others' performance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and product owners.
- Ability to apply traditional and agile software-development practices to plan, prioritise, and deliver work.
- Ability to use AI concepts and tools to solve routine problems with minimal guidance.
