Responsibilities

  • Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor complex programs, scripts, and integration software services.
  • Design system components and produce detailed specifications using agreed architectures, standards, patterns, and modeling techniques.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in database and data warehouse concepts, architectures, software, and facilities.
  • Implement physical database designs for transactional performance and availability and data warehouse designs for business intelligence and analytics.
  • Assess database structure changes and evaluate alternative design options and trade-offs.
  • Define test conditions, design test cases and scripts, analyze outcomes, and report issues and risks.
  • Build, configure, integrate, test, and release software and database platform components.
  • Monitor service delivery against service-level agreements and identify actions to maintain or improve service levels.
  • Advise business IT teams on the use of database platforms and services.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and contribute to technology roadmaps, reports, and knowledge sharing.
  • Potentially contribute to hiring, team leadership, workload allocation, and employee development.

Requirements

  • Four-year college or university degree focused on Business Administration, IT, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT, including 2 years in a relevant area and 1 year in team management.
  • Strong knowledge of database concepts and technologies, including relational, NoSQL, and specialized databases.
  • Experience with database infrastructure in public or private cloud environments, including AWS or Azure.
  • Understanding of networking, monitoring, high availability and disaster recovery, replication, backup and recovery, and database migrations.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of Oracle, SQL Server, AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, or DocumentDB.
  • Basic understanding of database security principles, including encryption, access management, and auditing.
  • Experience with performance tuning, SQL optimization, resource utilization, and system performance improvements.
  • Working knowledge of Linux or Windows Server in database environments.
  • Interest in automation, emerging technologies, and AI-driven solution adoption.
  • Relevant database or cloud technology certifications are preferred.
  • Proficient spoken and written English, cultural awareness, and experience working on projects with people from other functions or markets.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder interaction skills.
