Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve maintainable backend services and REST APIs with Python and FastAPI.
- Build and operate a communications dispatch service integrating messaging queues and external APIs such as Braze.
- Integrate Azure services, databases, third-party APIs, and Databricks data processes.
- Design and maintain Azure SQL persistence solutions, including data models, migrations, integrity, and query optimization.
- Implement production reliability and observability through monitoring, tracing, automated testing, and failure recovery.
- Collaborate with development, data, and IT/DevOps teams on technical decisions, integrations, CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and documentation.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of backend development experience building, integrating, and operating production services.
- Strong Python skills and experience building REST APIs with FastAPI or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience designing modular software with SOLID principles, separation of concerns, and automated testing.
- Experience integrating APIs and distributed systems with authentication, error handling, timeouts, retries, and resiliency patterns.
- Experience with asynchronous processing and messaging systems, including queues, dead-letter handling, and idempotency.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills covering modeling, querying, migrations, and ORM usage; SQL Server or Azure SQL is preferred.
- Experience with Docker and containerized-service deployment.
- Hands-on cloud-services experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure, plus monitoring, Git, and CI/CD experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor is a plus.
- Experience with Azure Databricks or other data-processing platforms, Kubernetes/AKS, Azure Container Registry, or Martech and experimentation platforms is a plus.
