Responsibilities
- Own, shape, and drive technical direction across multiple engineering squads.
- Lead complex, ambiguous greenfield initiatives from idea through delivery.
- Design, build, and evolve scalable backend systems, data pipelines, and third-party integrations.
- Partner with product managers, engineering managers, and senior stakeholders on roadmaps, trade-offs, and investment decisions.
- Raise engineering standards through mentoring, architectural reviews, documentation, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence across multiple services and teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation one week every five weeks.
Requirements
- Experience with architectural patterns in large, high-scale web applications, including well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, or efficient algorithms.
- Proven experience leading complex greenfield projects end-to-end.
- A track record of shaping architectural decisions and setting engineering standards across multiple teams or domains.
- Comfort shaping product scope, challenging requirements, and focusing on customer value.
- Strong English communication skills at B2+ level and the ability to influence senior peers and leadership through clear reasoning and technical judgment.
- Hands-on experience using agentic AI beyond code generation, including setting quality gates and safety nets and proposing AI-native workflow improvements.
- Willingness to participate in the team on-call rotation.
- Python experience is not mandatory; candidates from Java, Node.js, Ruby, Scala, .NET, PHP, or Go backgrounds are welcome if they can learn Python.
