Responsibilities
- Own the compute, orchestration, and infrastructure layer supporting CodeRabbit’s AI engine and products.
- Build the platform function from zero to one and establish technical direction, reusable patterns, and foundational architecture.
- Design and operate multi-region cloud infrastructure and large-scale distributed systems.
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes operators, controllers, admission webhooks, autoscaling, networking, and runtime-level platform capabilities.
- Build infrastructure and automation using Terraform, Node.js/TypeScript, or Go.
- Establish observability through custom instrumentation, distributed tracing, and SLO-based alerting.
- Make early architectural decisions with emphasis on correctness, reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Own outcomes from proposal through production in a high-ownership engineering culture.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering, with an emphasis on building platforms.
- Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience, including control-plane configuration, operators or controllers, scheduler tuning, and runtime-level debugging.
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and debugging distributed production failures.
- Strong GCP or AWS cloud compute experience, including infrastructure, networking, storage, and underlying compute primitives.
- Proficiency with Docker and container runtime internals, including image layering, networking modes, security contexts, and build optimization.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes CRDs, admission webhooks, RBAC, network policies, and autoscaling.
- Advanced Terraform skills covering module design, state management, and programmatic provisioning patterns.
- Experience with Node.js/TypeScript or Go for platform tooling, operators, and automation.
- Experience with Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent observability systems, including instrumentation, distributed tracing, and SLO-based alerting.
- Strong Linux internals, networking fundamentals, storage systems, and eBPF knowledge.
