Base Salary
$147k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code for BigQuery’s core runtime.
- Participate in or lead design reviews and select among available technologies.
- Review code and provide feedback on style, correctness, testability, efficiency, and best practices.
- Maintain documentation and educational content based on product updates and user feedback.
- Triage, debug, track, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing their sources and operational impact.
- Tune large distributed architectures, accelerate response times, and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Two years of software development experience, or one year of software development experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- Two years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, or storage systems.
- Experience with database internals, query processing, performance analysis, SQL, and C++.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: experience with vectorized query runtimes, low-level systems implementation, performance analysis and optimization, scalability, high-performance systems, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred: experience with concurrency, multithreading, synchronization, distributed computing, distributed databases, and database query runtimes.
- Preferred: experience leading performance improvement projects across multiple functional areas.
- Preferred: experience building infrastructure in Google Cloud or other cloud providers.
