$347k - $403k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term technical vision and architecture for critical systems infrastructure across multiple engineering organizations.
- Solve complex systems-level problems spanning teams, abstraction layers, and multiple parts of the technology stack.
- Establish architectural foundations, coding standards, systems design principles, performance targets, reliability guardrails, and quality standards.
- Lead complex migration, renewal, and foundational technology evolution projects in mature, high-scale environments.
- Develop systemic defenses and invariants addressing reliability, security, and correctness issues.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and cross-functional leaders to turn ambiguous requirements into durable systems solutions.
- Mentor engineers into cross-functional technical leaders and contribute to recruiting engineers with critical systems expertise.
- Apply AI-native workflows and define measurement frameworks for cross-team systems initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of systems software engineering experience, including large-scale distributed systems, operating systems, storage systems, or networking infrastructure.
- Experience architecting and owning globally scaled critical systems with measurable reliability, performance, and engineering-efficiency impact.
- Experience leading multi-year technical strategy and roadmap development across organizational boundaries.
- Experience resolving systemic bugs, performance regressions, or reliability issues across systems and abstraction layers.
- Experience influencing technical direction and engineering culture across large organizations through broadly adopted standards and practices.
- Preferred: experience with responsible AI practices, foundational-system rearchitecture, open-source contributions, published research, engineering-excellence programs, AI workflow optimization, prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration, and applying AI or machine learning to systems problems.
