Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, debug, and optimise embedded C++ software for real-time communication and signal-processing systems.
- Develop and support embedded communication modules, modems, and RF-adjacent components.
- Conduct performance testing across embedded targets to ensure reliability under operational loads.
- Produce traceable design specifications, requirements, and documentation for regulated development.
- Apply secure coding standards, governance policies, and safety-critical development procedures.
- Support system integration, architecture reviews, requirements traceability, verification, and system-level testing.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in C++ for embedded systems, including C++11, C++14, or C++17.
- Experience developing embedded communications or signalling systems such as modems, radios, or data links.
- Familiarity with embedded debugging, performance optimisation, hardware-software interaction, secure coding, configuration management, and development governance.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience from a technical military background.
- Eligibility to hold or already holding UK SC Security Clearance.
- Desirable experience includes Linux kernel drivers, communication stacks, DSP concepts, RF-adjacent technologies, embedded Linux, RTOS environments, CI/CD tooling, model-based design, static analysis tools, defence, avionics, or secure-systems engineering.
