Responsibilities
- Architect and develop Unreal Engine 5 real-time simulation environments for DoD training and analysis programs.
- Design and implement custom Unreal Engine plugins, modules, subsystems, and rendering extensions using C++ and object-oriented design principles.
- Profile, debug, and optimize rendering performance, including GPU/CPU bottlenecks, memory management, and multithreaded engine code.
- Develop new functionality and diagnose and fix software defects in distributed simulations, game-based training systems, and applications.
- Support customer-directed research and development, integration, and testing activities.
- Work on-site in Windows and Linux environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience in real-time 3D, simulation, or games.
- At least 3 years of hands-on professional or DoD-context Unreal Engine 4/5 development experience.
- Advanced C++ knowledge and extensive Unreal Engine development experience.
- Experience with object-oriented design, performance profiling, memory optimization, and multithreaded game or simulation engine code.
- Proficiency writing and extending custom Unreal Engine 5 plugins and subsystems.
- Ability to test, diagnose problems, and implement fixes, with experience using Git source control.
- Preferred experience includes first- or third-person game development, networking, virtual machines, Kubernetes, Docker, Python scripting, image or terrain generation tools, DoD simulation applications, CIGI-compliant host integration, GIS concepts, WGS84, Cesium for Unreal, and HLSL.
- U.S. citizenship and a secret security clearance are required, with the ability to pass a CI polygraph if requested by the customer.
