Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end performance validation for order entry, matching engine, and market data distribution paths.
- Design and execute load, stress, capacity, resiliency, failover, and scalability test suites.
- Profile pre-production services across CPU, memory, I/O, threading, garbage collection, networking, and database layers.
- Establish production performance baselines and identify degradation and emerging capacity risks.
- Investigate production latency and capacity events and produce root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
- Contribute to capacity planning and infrastructure sizing recommendations based on measured behavior and growth projections.
- Document testing methodology, results, and findings for engineering, audit, and regulatory audiences.
- Contribute to shared performance tooling, test harnesses, and measurement practices.
- Use AI tooling to draft workload models, test scaffolding, analysis, and RCA documents while validating all technical conclusions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in performance engineering and testing.
- Experience designing workload models and executing performance test campaigns against distributed, multi-tier systems using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6, or LoadRunner.
- Experience diagnosing performance issues in latency-sensitive systems with profilers and system tooling such as perf, eBPF/bpftrace, async-profiler, JFR, flame graphs, or Intel VTune.
- Strong statistical understanding of performance measurement, including averages, coordinated omission, and defensible test design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining latency distributions to technical and business stakeholders.
- Deep working knowledge of at least two of Linux performance internals, JVM internals, and networking fundamentals, with working familiarity across the others.
- Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python is preferred.
- Applied experience using AI coding agents in performance or development workflows is preferred.
- Experience with Claude Code or comparable agents, including agent skills or MCP servers connected to APM platforms, logs, or test harnesses, is a plus.
- Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems, particularly in financial services, trading, or market data, is preferred.
- Experience with kernel-bypass or accelerated networking, hardware and colocation tuning, APM platforms, chaos engineering, resiliency testing, or disaster recovery validation is preferred.
Benefits
- The role is onsite in the Atlanta office five days per week.
- There is no on-call rotation.
- Occasional weekend work may be required for major platform releases; such work is infrequent and scheduled in advance.
