Responsibilities
- Design and develop the cloud-native Group App Store backend on CARIAD’s Megatron PaaS and Microsoft Azure.
- Define service boundaries, API contracts, authentication flows, data persistence, and event-driven architecture patterns.
- Develop and maintain APIs for vehicles, the developer portal, and the companion app using OpenAPI specifications.
- Contribute directly to the shared codebase, review pull requests, and assess external development partner deliverables against quality and acceptance criteria.
- Own the Azure environment, including network architecture, access control, environment separation, security, governance, and cloud costs.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated quality assurance, environment promotion processes, and rollback mechanisms.
- Establish observability through structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, dashboards, service level objectives, and alerting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the external development partner to deliver a secure, scalable, and reliable platform.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional experience in backend software development within complex production environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native backend development, distributed systems, and scalable service architectures.
- Extensive practical experience designing REST APIs, service boundaries, authentication flows, data persistence, and event-driven architectures.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly IAM/RBAC, networking, Azure Key Vault, security, and cloud operations.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and working with observability, logging, tracing, metrics, and production monitoring.
- Strong understanding of secure and resilient backend systems, including TLS, rate limiting, error handling, and DDoS protection.
- Ability to contribute directly to code while critically evaluating architecture decisions, code quality, and technical work from external partners.
- Strong technical judgment, communication skills, ownership, and decision-making ability.
