Base Salary
$144k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement maintainable software across the full development lifecycle, from product definition through ongoing maintenance.
- Translate customer and stakeholder needs into scalable system designs while considering performance, security, and extensibility tradeoffs.
- Identify operational issues at their root cause and improve team operations to reduce support costs.
- Measure service performance and cost efficiency, identify large-scale bottlenecks, and implement optimization solutions.
- Design and develop highly available components and profiling tools for distributed systems.
- Collaborate with service and infrastructure teams across Amazon on efficiency initiatives.
- Use generative AI tools responsibly where appropriate to improve productivity and quality.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and training on architecture and operational practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- At least 1 year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- At least 1 year of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- At least 1 year of object-oriented design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
