Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and integrate secure backend services and APIs.
- Build backend services with Python, FastAPI, and C# and support service-to-service communication with gRPC.
- Develop asynchronous and distributed workflows using RabbitMQ and Celery.
- Develop relational and geospatial data capabilities using PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- Containerize and deploy services in OpenShift-based environments.
- Use GitLab-based development and CI/CD workflows.
- Apply secure software-development lifecycle practices and support vulnerability remediation.
- Develop unit, integration, and system-level tests and investigate defects, failed integrations, security findings, and service issues.
- Participate in code reviews, technical reviews, solution-design discussions, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with frontend, AI/ML, security, platform, DevSecOps, and customer engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least four years of professional software-development experience.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing backend services, APIs, or distributed applications.
- Experience developing backend software with Python and C# and building services with FastAPI.
- Experience with RabbitMQ, gRPC, Celery, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, GitLab workflows, and OpenShift environments.
- Understanding of secure software-development lifecycle practices and experience writing automated unit and integration tests.
- Active final DoD Secret clearance.
- Ability to explain personally built systems, technical decisions, testing, and delivery clearly.
- Clear technical documentation and communication skills.
- Preferred experience includes another Python web framework, similar messaging and service-integration tools, geospatial or mapping applications, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, secure container delivery, defense or regulated software environments, and integration with LLM or retrieval-augmented-generation components.
