Responsibilities
- Implement interactive games and experiences across Disney’s portfolio of characters and worlds.
- Write gameplay code using SceneGraph and Verse in UEFN, with additional work in native Unreal Engine using C++ and Blueprints.
- Debug and help extend a large legacy Unreal Engine project.
- Collaborate daily with design, production, and art teams to establish and achieve game goals.
- Support designers during development and find creative solutions to platform limitations.
- Work with engineers to maintain implementation quality, stability, and flexibility.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers while helping drive critical game-development projects.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience developing console, PC, mobile games, or other digital interactive entertainment.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 or later at the native C++ level.
- Ability to work in an existing legacy C++ and Blueprint-heavy project.
- Some experience with UEFN and Verse, including hobbyist experience.
- Hands-on programming experience contributing to the creation and release of a major product.
- Experience authoring significant gameplay systems and programming during project prototyping.
- Production-quality knowledge of C++, including performance impact, memory management, and inheritance.
- Understanding of client/server architecture, replication, client-side prediction, and movement syncing.
- Understanding of game mathematics, including linear algebra, vector math, kinematic physics, and collision.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred qualifications include live UEFN publishing and support, graphics programming, mobile experience, online services familiarity, Fortnite and UGC device knowledge, and AAA product development experience.
