Responsibilities
- Contribute to FMEA activities for software components and systems and assess failure modes, effects, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, SAE J3061, and automotive safety regulations throughout the software lifecycle.
- Assess and enhance the functional safety of embedded automotive software using knowledge of microcontrollers, RTOS, and automotive communication protocols.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and system architects to integrate functional-safety requirements into embedded-system designs.
- Design and develop safety-critical automotive algorithms and conduct software maturity assessments and fault analysis.
- Define, document, and trace software safety requirements to system-level requirements.
- Maintain safety requirements specifications, safety case documentation, and verification and validation reports.
- Communicate safety-related information with project teams, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide functional-safety guidance as a subject matter expert.
Requirements
- Expertise in embedded systems and functional safety for automotive software.
- Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, real-time operating systems, and automotive communication protocols.
- Ability to perform FMEA, fault analysis, algorithm maturity assessments, and safety-requirements traceability.
- Knowledge of automotive safety standards including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and SAE J3061.
- Experience collaborating across software, hardware, systems, customer, and regulatory stakeholders is required by the role's responsibilities.
