Base Salary
$236k - $339k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system solutions for Snowflake’s cloud-agnostic FDB platform.
- Analyze and resolve fault-tolerance, high-availability, performance, and scale challenges.
- Own end-to-end project delivery from solution identification through design, implementation, testing, and safe production rollout.
- Balance consistency, durability, and cost requirements for rapidly growing services.
- Build transaction-system, caching, storage-engine, and multi-tenant capabilities.
- Promote database-usage and end-to-end architecture best practices.
- Identify system problems, instrument relevant components, and implement solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale infrastructure in production.
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems infrastructure for stateful services.
- Experience with container orchestration, cluster management, or autoscaling.
- Strong understanding of operating systems concepts, including multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
- Systems programming and concurrency skills with fluency in Java.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenShift, or other container platforms.
- Experience with scalable key-value stores such as FoundationDB, RocksDB/LevelDB, DynamoDB, Redis, or Cassandra is preferred.
- Experience with big-data storage technologies such as HDFS and columnar databases is highly desired.
- Track record of delivering complex distributed-systems projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
