Base Salary

$96k - $159k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize security alerting and develop custom detections across endpoint, identity, network, cloud, and application domains.
  • Author and maintain SIEM/XDR detection content with attention to performance, scalability, and precision.
  • Translate threat intelligence, incident learnings, purple-team results, and threat-hunting findings into detection improvements.
  • Validate detections using attack scenarios, emulation results, historical data, and safe adversary simulations.
  • Identify telemetry gaps and log-quality issues and coordinate remediation with platform and infrastructure teams.
  • Develop temporary analytics and scoping queries to support incident response investigations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, metrics, reporting, and detection lifecycle management.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, or security operations in large enterprise environments.
  • Practical experience with endpoint, identity, network, cloud, and SaaS technologies and their associated logging.
  • Experience developing detection content across multiple telemetry sources.
  • Strong proficiency with at least one major SIEM/XDR ecosystem and advanced query authoring; Splunk SPL, Microsoft KQL, and SQL are strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of adversary tradecraft and practical experience applying MITRE ATT&CK to detection design, validation, and coverage assessment.
  • Ability to reason about attacker behavior, detection-logic trade-offs, and operational impacts.
  • Experience using scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell for problem-solving, automation, and REST/GraphQL API interaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred certifications include GIAC GDAT, GCDA, GCTD, GCTI, GMON, GCIH, GCFA, GCPY, Splunk Power User, Microsoft SC-200, AZ-500, and CompTIA CySA+.
