Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across marine product platforms and embedded systems.
- Lead major software initiatives involving new technologies or expanded marine capabilities.
- Design embedded solutions balancing performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop software in C and C++ and commonize technologies across embedded products.
- Mentor less experienced software engineers and provide guidance across engineering levels.
- Work with software vendors to integrate externally developed deliverables.
- Evaluate technologies, features, and functions and recommend improvements.
- Author procedures, suggest process improvements, resolve complex problems, and contribute to software reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, plus at least 9 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience serving as the lead software engineer for projects involving new markets or significant new technologies.
- Experience architecting solutions for multiple groups or disciplines.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Desired experience configuring and building custom Linux distributions with the Yocto Project.
- Desired knowledge of Linux services and inter-process communications.
- Desired proficiency in Python and shell scripts.
- Outstanding academics, including a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, are desired.
