Responsibilities
- Execute the software development lifecycle from concept through development, production, and fielding.
- Own customer-deployed areas of the ECC software solution.
- Build scalable systems and improve products and mission capabilities for additional customers.
- Develop and optimize mixed-reality, game-engine, simulation, training, and mission-planning software.
- Build and optimize applications for Android mobile and Linux-based in-vehicle systems running on constrained hardware.
- Collaborate across Product, Platform, Business Development, internal engineering, external engineering, and customer teams.
- Plan, build, and test complex functionality across multiple teams.
- Create and analyze metrics for debugging and monitoring.
- Triage issues, determine root causes, and coordinate follow-up actions.
- Partner with end users to translate operational needs into features while balancing user experience and engineering constraints.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to the engineering team’s growth.
- Travel up to 25% to build, test, and deploy capabilities in operational environments.
- Brief internal and external executives and high-ranking officials.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience working with programming languages such as Flutter, Dart, C#, Kotlin, Java, and Python.
- Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Experience working with Linux and/or Nix/NixOS.
- Experience building software solutions involving hardware integrations.
- Experience building scalable solutions on edge infrastructure.
- Ability to understand and navigate complex systems and established codebases quickly.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Must be clearance eligible.
- Experience designing and working with distributed systems is preferred.
- Deep networking experience, particularly with distributed systems operating in non-standard networking conditions, is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, networking, security, distributed systems, monitoring, logging, and data management tools is preferred.
- Understanding of computer and network operation from desktop systems through multi-cluster cloud nodes is preferred.
- Professional software development lifecycle experience with version control and related development systems is preferred.
- Experience delivering high-quality results in startup or high-growth environments is preferred.
