Base Salary

$115k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Implement end-to-end security controls for ground-based C2 systems, spacecraft hardware and software platforms, firmware, embedded systems, cloud-native applications, and operational technology.
  • Design and deploy monitoring, logging, incident-response, zero-trust, and security-control architectures without compromising operational tempo.
  • Implement and validate DISA STIG requirements at operating system, container, platform, and application layers.
  • Integrate RMF controls into DevSecOps workflows using infrastructure as code, automated security scanning, and continuous monitoring tooling.
  • Identify and remediate findings from STIGs, vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and software composition analysis activities.
  • Support RMF Steps 1–6, with emphasis on control implementation, assessment preparation, and remediation for DoD and Intelligence Community programs.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, ICD 503, JSIG, and other applicable classified National Security Systems frameworks.
  • Support cloud provisional authorization and inherited-control models across classified cloud environments, including IL-6 cloud service providers.
  • Contribute to security artifacts including SSPs, SAPs, SARs, and POA&Ms.
  • Serve as a technical representative to government ISSOs, ISSEs, and third-party assessors during ATO and reauthorization activities.
  • Coordinate with spacecraft engineers, ground operations teams, government partners, and distributed cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in security incident-response and mission-critical system support as needed.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of combined experience in technical IT, security engineering, DevSecOps, and/or software development.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required; an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is preferred.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+, CySA+, or equivalent, is required.
  • Experience implementing or using NSA Type 1 cryptographic solutions in operational systems.
  • Experience with RMF processes and achieving ATOs for complex systems.
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 security controls and their technical implementation.
  • Hands-on experience implementing STIGs at the operating system, container, platform, and application levels.
  • Familiarity with space system architectures, including satellite operations, ground segments, and TT&C systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include securing C2, space, or DoD mission systems; supporting ATO, re-ATO, or continuous authorization; and working in DoD or Intelligence Community environments.
  • Preferred qualifications include IL-5/IL-6 cloud security, control inheritance, shared responsibility models, Cross Domain Solutions, data guards, FedRAMP High, CMMC, SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, audit/logging systems, zero-trust architectures, and modern identity solutions.
  • Must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.
