Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, modify, verify, and maintain software solutions, prototypes, and embedded applications with minimal supervision.
- Design and implement complex C/C++ applications on embedded Linux platforms.
- Develop responsive user interfaces using Qt and QML.
- Implement and maintain communication frameworks between embedded devices and other system components.
- Translate user, system, and design requirements into software designs and detailed engineering specifications.
- Support system integration, verification, validation, troubleshooting, and bench-level testing throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Conduct technical research and feasibility studies and evaluate solutions against component, subsystem, and system requirements.
- Create, review, and maintain requirements, architecture, design, risk assessment, defect tracking, and test documentation.
- Estimate software development effort, schedules, and resource requirements for assigned work.
- Collaborate with software, electrical, systems, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, clinical, marketing, and product development teams.
- Follow medical-device design controls, risk management practices, quality procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead code reviews and apply software architecture principles, coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, with 2 or more years of work experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong professional software development experience in C++.
- Experience developing applications on embedded Linux platforms.
- Experience building user interfaces with Qt/QML or comparable embedded UI frameworks.
- Experience developing and maintaining Bash or other Linux shell scripts.
- Proficiency with Git and CMake.
- Experience with integrated development environments and software analysis tools for static analysis, dynamic analysis, memory management, and code coverage.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and best practices.
- Experience using application lifecycle management and requirements traceability tools.
- Familiarity with regulated software development and standards such as IEC 62304 and ISO 13485.
- Preferred experience developing safety-critical or highly regulated applications.
- Preferred experience with embedded application processors such as Raspberry Pi or NXP i.MX series platforms.
- Preferred proficiency with Python for test automation, tooling, or system integration.
- Preferred experience with unit testing, integration testing, or UI test automation frameworks.
- Preferred experience implementing TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, USB, Serial, or Ethernet communication interfaces.
- Understanding of software architecture, system integration, and troubleshooting in embedded environments.
