Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-native platforms, backend services, data systems, and developer tools for internal engineering workflows.
- Build retrieval pipelines, including RAG, embeddings, vector search, and knowledge retrieval systems.
- Develop AI-powered tools such as chatbots, agents, and multi-step tool orchestration workflows.
- Integrate LLMs with external tools and APIs using tool-use patterns, MCP, function calling, and custom integrations.
- Create evaluation pipelines, measure AI system quality, and iterate on system outputs and feedback loops.
- Design software architecture, APIs, data models, storage layers, and integrations for complex domains.
- Collaborate with machine learning scientists, algorithm engineers, hardware teams, designers, and human factors researchers.
- Develop platforms that may evolve from internal tools into broader products and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one of Swift, TypeScript, or another systems-level language.
- Experience building backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience building with modern AI and agent frameworks.
- Strong software architecture and API design skills.
- Experience with retrieval pipelines, RAG, embeddings, vector search, or knowledge retrieval systems.
- Experience evaluating and iterating on AI system outputs, including building evaluation pipelines and measuring quality.
- Strong communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Preferred: master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience with macOS or iOS client applications, workflow orchestration, experiment tracking, reproducibility tooling, complex data models, storage layers, integration APIs, access-controlled data systems, vector databases, embedding pipelines, developer tools, CLIs, internal platforms, cloud AI services, self-hosted model serving, or open-source AI/ML infrastructure.
- Preferred: experience integrating LLMs with external tools and APIs, including MCP and function calling.
