Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and test native Android applications for complex technical projects.
- Create scalable, maintainable, testable Android specifications and architectural designs using modern patterns and principles.
- Lead Android design and code reviews and drive improvements in performance, security, reliability, usability, and maintainability.
- Integrate Android applications with cameras, barcode scanning, RFID, NFC, Bluetooth peripherals, sensors, location services, and Android system services.
- Build reusable Android frameworks, SDKs, libraries, and platform components for multiple mobile products and releases.
- Investigate and resolve complex Android issues involving memory, latency, battery consumption, concurrency, stability, and production diagnostics.
- Develop automated unit, integration, UI, and performance tests and strengthen CI/CD, build automation, and release validation.
- Collaborate with product management, UX, cloud, AI/ML, firmware, hardware, DevOps, and customer-facing teams.
- Evaluate Android capabilities and prototype experiences involving computer vision, OCR, on-device AI/ML, edge inference, and workflow automation.
- Mentor engineers, coordinate technical execution, and represent Android engineering in program reviews and customer discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or an advanced degree.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years with an advanced degree; equivalent work experience may substitute for a degree.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including strong native Android development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, Jetpack libraries, and Android architecture components.
- Experience with MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modular architecture, Hilt/Dagger dependency injection, Coroutines, Flow, and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with Camera2, NDK/JNI/C++, Android Enterprise, managed configurations, REST APIs, telemetry, diagnostics, Git, CI/CD, JUnit, Espresso, Mockito, and UI automation.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, solve complex customer problems, and deliver high-quality enterprise Android solutions.
